Julia, Languages and the Digital Generation!

I’m Julia and I have just started my first teaching gig as a French and German teacher at PLC in Sydney! I have lived in Australia for 4 years.  Prior to that I was in London, where I stayed on after my first degree, a BA in European Business, French and Italian…so after a few years in Financial Communication and a consequent switch to Media & Entertainment, I have finally ’settled’ and am happy and content in calling Australia home.  I do, however, miss using my other languages, which prompted my desire to re-qualify as a teacher. It’s great that in this ‘digital generation’ I seem to be able to combine this with another passion of mine: Graphic-, Webdesign and everything surrounding digital scrapbooking and production of fun video compilations….courtesy of Macintosh, bien sur!

Alors, see you out there!

Julia

Hi Julia,

We have a fair bit in common! I work down the road from you at Northern Beaches Christian School. I teach languages (French)… mostly in an online mode nowadays. Also, I have a keen interest in virtual worlds. I’ve been using Second Life with my Year 8s very recently for French. It’s early days, but the technology seems to lend itself very well to language teaching. In fact, web stuff suits languages well in general, doesn’t it? Are you on Twitter? I am @Steve_Collis. If you’re not on Twitter, get on it because you’ll find a stack of people keen to hear about what you’re doing! It’s a great network for spreading ideas!
